Join art muse and contemporary artist Carter Mull in examining the work of Adrián Villar Rojas at MOCA's Geffen Contemporary. The Theater of Disappearance is a site-specific installation inside the MOCA Geffen's warehouse wherein Villar Rojas transforms his singular artistic practice into an ongoing search for a sense of belongings in an ambiguous time and space. Villar Rojas's objects slip and slide between past, present, and future; their fragmented existance images a post-human environment that begs the question, "what happens after the end of art?" While Villar Rojas's practice might best be understood as sculptural, when considered as a whole, The Theater of Disappearance blurs the line between sculpture, instillation, environmental-art, and institutional critique.
