Exploring the Art of the Chinese Caribbean Diaspora: Part II

  • Chinese American Museum (map)

In celebration of Black History Month and the Chinese New Year, Art Muse LA is leading a two-part tour at the California African-American Museum (CAAM) and the Chinese American Museum (CAM). Central to each tour will be the exhibitions Circles and Circuits I and II which focus on the history and art of the Chinese Caribbean Diaspora (Part I) and the Contemporary Chinese Caribbean Art (Part II). Tours will be led by muses Angela Bryant and Jennifer Li. Each day we conclude with a meal that relates to the culture of focus. Your meal is included in the price of your ticket.

Led by art muse and scholar Jennifer Li, Part II explores Contemporary Chinese Caribbean Art at the Chinese American Museum. Jennifer received her BA in the History of Art from the University of California, Berkeley, and her MA in Modern Art History, Theory and Criticism from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She is a specialist in Contemporary Chinese Art. Her professional experience in museums includes previous positions at The Art Institute of Chicago, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the J. Paul Getty Museum. She also oversaw the daily operations and exhibition programs at the Michael Kohn Gallery in Los Angeles. Currently, she is the LA Desk Editor for ArtAsiaPacific, the leading English-language periodical covering contemporary art and culture from Asia, the Pacific and the Middle East.
