Join Betty Seid, art muse and specialist in the art of India, for a tour of the dazzling exhibition of Indian jewelry now on view at the Fowler Museum at UCLA. Works range from royal Mughal and Rajput gem-encrusted adornments to the more rustic heavy silver of desert and tribal populations. Included in the exhibit are paintings and sculptures borrowed from LACMA that demonstrate the historical and ritual importance of embellishment. The exhibition further explores the work of contemporary silversmiths (sonis) who carry on an artisanal tradition.
