Join Art Muse guide and artist Sarah Jones at MOCA to view their much-anticipated 35-year retrospective of painter Kerry James Marshall. Marshall's first major US retrospective, this exhibit contains over 80 paintings, each ravishingly beautiful and devastatingly honest in its depiction of Black life in America.
Following our tour of the Marshall exhibit, we will continue to The Underground Museum, where another of Marshall's paintings takes center-stage in their exhibit, Non-Fiction. Dedicated to the depiction of the black body and its place in (art history), Non-Fiction features works by Theaster Gates, Robert Gober, David Hammons, Deana Lawson, Marion Palfi, Henry Taylor, and Kara Walker.
