Join Megan Metcalf, an expert in contemporary art history and performance, in this tour of the Marciano Art Foundation with a focus on Donna Huanca’s multi-media and multi-sensorial Obsidian Ladder installation. The group will have the chance to experience Huanca’s artwork as it is inhabited by live models (which takes place only on Saturdays) and discuss it in relation to histories of performance art as well as painting, sculpture, and fashion. Obsidian Ladder also invokes several generations of feminist art, which has deep roots in Los Angeles. Megan Metcalf will illuminate this history and explore the dialogue Huanca’s work has with other artworks currently on view in the Marciano Art Foundation’s iconic building.
