Art Muse Los Angeles Marfa El Paso Texas Travel Excursion

ART IN THE HEART OF TEXAS

Marfa, Texas, is not in the middle of nowhere. It’s at the far edge of nowhere, and that is to say it's magic. In 1971, the renowned minimalist artist Donald Judd moved to Marfa from New York City with the intention of installing his art. Since Judd's death in 1994, two organizations have been working to maintain his legacy: The Chinati Foundation and Judd Foundation. The Chinati Foundation now occupies more than 10 buildings and has on permanent exhibit work by such artists as John Chamberlain and Dan Flavin. Added to these attractions is the brand new, 10,000-square-foot permanent installation by artist Robert Irwin.
